HKSL’s third overseas surfing tour!! This time, we’re surfing in Sri Lanka!! Our partner, Surf Camp, is run by the British and is the most systematic and only school in the area dedicated to training ISA (International Surf Instructors) international surfing instructors. High quality and absolute safety are guaranteed. December is the local dry season. Within an 8-minute walk of Surf Camp are 5 different surf spots suitable for surfers of all levels. From beginners to experts, longboarders to shortboarders, there are suitable surf spots. All surf spots are reef breaks, and most are deep reefs. Best of all, all surf spots are beach entries, making them very safe. You can surf in relatively stable spots without even needing a reef boot!! The 5-day surfing tour includes professional video analysis by Surf Camp instructors, which is very insightful and will help you improve. Several photographers will be on hand at different surf spots filming different groups of surfers each day. WHY JOIN HKSL Surf CAMP?
If 15 people sign up, we’ll have a whole SURF CAMP! Waking up early together and surfing together feels amazing! Super exciting!! We don’t have any cliques; everyone is welcome.
The last Hainan wave pool group had 19 people, and 17 of them signed up individually! Turns out very good vibes! Even if you come alone, don’t be afraid!
HKSL instructor Tio spent a month in the area this February training in surfing, including renewing his ILS Ocean Safety certification, taking higher-level surfing instructor certification exams, and learning video analysis from head coaches of the British, Sri Lankan, and Maldives Surf Teams. Therefore, he is familiar with the local wave spots and shapes, and can help you choose the most suitable level for your lessons, assisting in explaining your abilities to local surf coaches. Because when going to a surf camp, it’s often difficult to choose the right level, and local instructors don’t know the students’ surfing abilities, sometimes underestimating or overestimating them.
In addition, Tio will help you plan your daily schedule, arrange attractions, provide English translation, be familiar with tuk-tuk prices, surfing tips & prep talk, and help you choose the right level and wave for your class! If you have any questions about surfing, he can continue to analyze them for you! And Tio will help record videos of the surfing sessions every afternoon (which do not have videos themselves).
Is Sri Lanka Dangerous?
Surf Camp is located 3 hours from the airport in a safe area. December is the peak surfing season and dry season. As a surfing paradise, locals are very friendly to tourists, and many expatriates reside there long-term. It has a vibrant tourist atmosphere with a wide variety of delicious food options. You can choose from international cuisine or local favorites like curry, chicken fried rice, and pancakes/noodles. HKSL arranges meals, so you won’t encounter any food safety issues.

8Days7Night Itinerary：
Wednesday: Rest Day – You are free to plan your own sightseeing/continue surfing/go with Tio to buy surf gear nearby, and enjoy beach cafes, saunas, massages, ice baths, etc.
Surf Day Lunch Arrangements: Lunch at restaurants with different themes/beach/pool cafes (at your own expense).
WHO CAN JOIN?
- All genders are welcome to participate.
- Surfing level: Beginner, intermediate, and advanced are all welcome.
- Complete beginners are not recommended. It is advisable to attend at least two HKSL surfing workshops in Changsha beforehand.
Beginner to Advanced: Surf at different wave spots according to your skill level.
Most are Reef Break (beginner-friendly, barefoot allowed).
Everyone can enjoy surfing and challenge themselves.
Each group has one local Sri Lankan instructor and one British instructor. All instructors are certified by the International Surfing Association and the ILS Marine Lifesaving Association. Instructors will help you push your board if you can’t catch the wave or don’t have the strength to do so.

- 2-hour surfing lessons with instructor and video recording × 5 sessions in the morning
