Summer Surfkid Camp

The Happiest Summer Camp in HK!

Summer is HKSL’s longest and biggest season for kids: a surfing summer camp running weekly at Lower Cheung Sha Beach on Lantau, Hong Kong, from May through August, mostly in 3-day non-overnight blocks with a handful of single-day dates dropped in around the school-holiday calendar.
It’s still built the same way as every other HKSL camp — mainly focused on surfing and skill progression — but the sheer number of dates on offer each summer makes it the camp families come back to season after season.
Suitable for ages 5–15, from no experience to all surf levels.
Every child gets their own board for the water sessions, and coaches split groups by age and experience so a first-timer and a returning grom each land in the right group.
It’s an unaccompanied program — parents and helpers are welcome to watch from the beach.

Camp Days & Price

Camp days run in weekly-ish blocks across May–August, mostly 3-day non-overnight camps with a set of single-day dates also on offer.

3-day camp: HK$3,400 per child (discounted HK$3,100)
1-day camp: HK$1,350 (discounted HK$1,200)

Discounts apply for registering two or more kids together or for booking two or more camps.

Fees cover the coach, equipment, lunch, high-resolution photos, art-craft materials (where used), and daily pickup and drop-off at Central.

Getting there

Two ways to arrive — pick whichever suits your family:

Central Pier 6 pickup (8:15am–4:45pm): meet an HKSL instructor and travel together by ferry and Lantau bus, both ways. The wider window covers the round trip.
Meet at the beach (10:00am–3:30pm): go straight to Lower Cheung Sha Beach (Lantau Grocer). These are the camp’s own hours on the sand.

Camps are mainly English-led, with Cantonese- or Mandarin-speaking coaches available on request.

A Typical Camp Day

Main activity: surfing and progressive skills work, every day
Other activities: surf safety, body-surfing, body-boarding, beach games, surf-related water games
Flat-day or bad-weather alternatives: tie-dye workshop, screen printing, slacklining, skimboarding

Camp Schedule (times shift with the surf and the weather):

10:00–10:30 — get changed, camp rules, swim and body-surf, ocean knowledge
10:30–12:00 — land drill and morning surf session
12:00–13:00 — lunch and free time, rehydration and sunscreen
13:00–14:45 — beach games and afternoon surf session
14:45–15:30 — tidy up and get changed
