Winter Surfkid Camp
- Our winter camp runs from mid-December into early January at Lower Cheung Sha Beach on Lantau, Hong Kong, in 3-day non-overnight blocks.
- Every day splits into a dry half and a wet half — surfing in the water, and beach-based activities like fire making, S’mores and hot chocolate, a tie-dye and wax-dye T-shirt workshop, and screen printing rotating across the three days.
- Kids wear a wetsuit for the water sessions, so the cooler season doesn’t cut into surf time.
- Every kid gets their own board, and coaches split groups by age and surfing experience so a first-timer and a returning grom both land in the right group.
- The camp is open to kids aged 5–15, from no experience to all surf levels.
- It’s an unaccompanied program — parents and helpers are welcome to watch from the beach.

Camp Days & Price
Camp days run as 3-day non-overnight blocks across mid-December into early January.
3-day camp: HK$3,400 per child (discounted HK$3,100)
The discounted rate applies when registering two or more kids together.
Fees cover the coach, equipment, lunch, high-resolution photos, art-craft materials, and daily pickup and drop-off at Central.

Getting there
Two ways to arrive — pick whichever suits your family:
- Central Pier 6 pickup (8:15am–4:45pm): meet an HKSL instructor and travel together by ferry and Lantau bus, both ways. The wider window covers the round trip.
- Meet at the beach (10:00am–3:30pm): go straight to Lower Cheung Sha Beach (Lantau Grocer). These are the camp’s own hours on the sand.
Camps are mainly English-led, with Cantonese- or Mandarin-speaking coaches available on request.
A Typical Camp Day
- Half the day on wet activities (surfing and skills progression), half on dry activities
- Dry activities rotate across the camp: tie-dye/wax-dye T-shirt workshop, campfire and survival skills with s’mores and hot chocolate, and screen printing
- Other activities: surf safety briefing, beach games, surf-related water games
Camp Schedule (times shift with the surf and the weather):
- 10:00–10:15 — get changed and camp rules
- 10:15–12:00 — dry activities, beach games, and surfing land drills
- 12:00–13:00 — lunch and free time, rehydration and sunscreen
- 13:00–14:45 — afternoon surf session
- 14:45–15:30 — tidy up and get changed

Our coaches
- Head coaches qualified by the International Surfing Association (ISA) in surfing, SUP, and SUP-surf
- Led by head coach Buddy — the first and only holder of the ISA Supervisor Instructor Award in Hong Kong
- 13 years of surf coaching and over 16 years of outdoor-education experience
- Trained in water rescue and first aid
- A professional team that teaches thousands of adults and kids to surf every year
- Running since 2015, with 170+ kids’ surf camps delivered
- No more than 1 coach to 8 kids in the water — smaller ratios or a rotating 1-on-1 option when wave conditions or the age mix call for it
What to bring
Sunscreen (liquid rather than spray),
swimsuit,
a 3mm full-length neoprene wetsuit (please bring your own),
towel,
water bottle,
flip-flops,
hat,
closed-toe water shoes,
a dry bag,
mosquito repellent,
and dry clothes for after — the wetsuit is what keeps kids comfortable in the water through the cooler months.
